We spent our first night away in a ski-resort town called Zlatibor. No snow at the moment, instead it's quite warm. It's got a nice vibe to it but extremely touristy - has a bit of a toy town feel in the centre.
We stayed in a lovely villa with a huge room (+ kitchen) for only £35 ($55).
Wood is plentiful all around this region, so finally I came across cheap wooden toys. Croissants for breakfast on Sunday morn then off to the capital.
The drive included roadworks that closed the road for an hour - so we turned back and popped into the nearest town for ice-cream - and a random detour which took us through hick towns in the south. From our front door to Belgrade it's taken us 13hrs, with short stops.
Arrived in Belgrade around 5pm and it was HOT. We spent the evening wandering the centre and eating pizza and ice-cream. Cities are best at night don't you think?
We're staying at a friend's apartment and it's huge, and I can tap into free wifi from the hotel next door. Sweet.
Off into the city centre now (a 20 min walk) with the first stop that enormous book shop in the last photo above. I know!
