chalkboards

Our chalkboard paint is still waiting for the right board to come along. I'm itching, and may end up spraying something randomly if it doesn't come along soon.

Do you have/want a chalkboard?
How would you use it?

  1. Don't have one but lately I've had a bit of a crush on them. I admire them at restaurants and café but I don't know if they'd look good in our kitchen. I'm also pretty sure that my kids would steal it ;-)

PS. About the almond flour for biscotti. I don't know if you read my comment but to add to it: My friend has also never tried it and we were both wondering if almond flour and almonds wouldn't make them too almondy (is that a word?). I think I'd rather go with the mixture of amaranth flour and almond flour if you want them gluten free. Then you can also use almond flour and skip the almonds and use some type of nuts instead.

  2. I do have one little goal chalkboard from Mary Kate McDevitt's etsy shop, but I really want a whole chalkboard wall, preferably in my kitchen that I could jot recipes, ingredients, and other brilliant things on.

  6. Yes, to chalkboards. Chalkboard desks for my boys...etc.
Must say that if a restaurant has a chalkboard menu outside I always pick that one.. it usually means great food and that the menu changes daily!!
    Have a fab weekend!

  7. I had a gorgeous vintage frame that was too large for any prints that I owned, so I painted a wall in my kitchen, just the size of a print that would fit the frame, with chalkboard paint. I hung the frame around the paint, and have been jotting down notes and quotes ever since. I love it!! :)

  8. oh YES!! i painted part of a wall in the kitchen of my former house with chalkboard paint...perfect for a house full of university students -- the most amazing (and peculiar) things would materialize....

the dust was a pain though....

    i LOVE the framed one....hmmmm..

we have a white-board now but it's just not the same...

  9. Love the 4th one! It's so cozy and nice! I do like chalkboards, but I definitely like the chalkboard walls more, especially when they're in fun colors like pink or blue [or the chalk is in fun colors!]

  14. I'd love to have a chalkboard! Maybe when I live somewhere a bit more permanent!!!

Thanks for your comment! It's an impressive amount of books you have! My collection isn't as big as of yet, I only have about 160ish with me at the moment, with another 100-200 in storage in my grandparents' house! It will come though, but, it's not really that easy when you move around a lot!!

Will definitely follow your blog :) :)

  15. i looove chalkboards! in college my roommate and i decided we were going to use chalkboard paint on one of our walls in our little dining area. we liked to write down funny quotes from each other / from our friends. so we told our friends - hey, just write on our wall {before we had chalkboard painted it!} ... let's just say, we never quite got around to chalkboard painting it and it turned into quite the to-do upon move-out!!

i currently have a piece of "chalkboard" contact paper up above my "craft corner" in my apartment. all ive written on it so far is, "craft corner". hahah.

  22. I love chalkboards too - I actually wish I had them in my classroom, instead of (boo) whiteboards. I'm definitely having a chalkboard in my kitchen, one day, one day.
