bohemian tents

There is just something seductive about tents.
You can throw a blanket over a couple of chairs for a child and they are enthralled.

It's magic, womb-like, seclusion, privacy, exotic, protection, secrets, otherworldly, luxury, romantic, fun, escapist....

The tent may be in your house or in an ordinary backyard, but inside, you can be anywhere... perhaps... anyone....

Hope your weekend is filled with a little magic.

  3. A wild, magical post :)

I miss camping in the great outdoors. These days, all people want to do when camping is sit around a fire and drink or ride motorbikes. I just want to relax and bask in the beauty of nature.

One time, when camping, I encountered numerous fireflies in the rainforest :)

Love these tents. I have the second image from bottom in my book of inspiration

  4. Oh, how I love tents! It's such a sensory experience. The romance of being enclosed in a confined space and the mystery of not knowing what may be in your company on the outside.

    Have a magical weekend, Monica!

Not what my weekend will be filled with since my hub is going to NY but I will enjoy the river, dinners and a day at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

  7. You are so right about the "magical" allure of a tent to a child. I can remember spending hours in the backyard under the "tent" my mom constructed using two lawn chairs and a large bedspread.
    Love these pictures :)

  11. Oh I love these. Even though my tent is far more utilitarian than any of these, I am sooo looking forward to my week-long solo camping/Ayurveda retreat this summer and falling asleep to the sound of cicadas...

  16. Tents are really utterly romantic. And I love how they somehow make you feel like a child again. One day, I'm going to have a backyard with some perfect place for a tent, and I think I may reserve it for dreaming.

  18. Seeing your piece this morning has injected a little bit of magic into my weekend. Tents are enveloping. They provide a sense of the microcosm within the macrocosm. They offer both security and a hint of adventure. I'm beginning to feel emotions I haven't felt for many years! The images are quite stunning.

I think this is the most beautiful and even profound blog post I have ever seen!!

  24. There is something so nurturing and magical about tents. I have a dormered space in my house that I'm planning to drape with fabric to create my own indoor tent. Love these images.

  25. STUNNING!! Please Help! Been searching for day's for just the right way to create my 16 yr. old son's room. He would absolutely love this. I plan on using lots of sheer panels and fabric but have no idea how to drape them from the ceiling without looking too girlie :\ I thought maybe boxspring & mattress on floor, and doing something like in photo #6 using a hoola hoop and drapeing the sheer panels over the sides of the bed?? And how about colors? Can I use whatever colors for a boy? Any advise would be awesome.
    Thanks so much

    1. a hoola hoop is one of the easiest yet proper installation. google 'hula hoop tent' for instructions.
i would go for landscape colours (earthy, low saturation) - forest green, deep blue, brown....or a mix of blues.
